Hurricane launches the radio play Romeo and Juliet

Oorkaan is launching online the radio play Romeo and Juliet, written by Sanne Schuhmacher, to a concept and direction by Caecilia Thunnissen. The radio play is a shortened version of the family concert Romeo and Juliet by the Concertgebouw Orchestra in collaboration with Oorkaan.

Performing Tchaikovsky's Fantasy Overture "Romeo and Juliet," Oorkaan, the Concertgebouw Orchestra and (voice) actors Jouman Fattal and Steven Stavast tell their own version of the story of perhaps the most famous love couple of all time...Romeo and Juliet.

Series of 5 Oorkaan radio plays
The radio play Romeo and Juliet is among the first of a series of five. Back in 2017, Oorkaan developed several radio plays - created by presenter and radio producer Hans Smit - to deepen its theatrical concerts, stimulate the imagination and develop listening skills. Soon the radio plays Black Monster With Tobias Borsboom, Warrior's Son with the Cello Octet Amsterdam, Moth with the Dudok Quartet Amsterdam and Mr. Sax with the Ebonit Saxophone Quartet available online.

Sanne Schuhmacher wrote short stories for this, in which word and music alternate as narrator. Especially in these times when going to live concerts is not obvious, Oorkaan online offers a special listening experience, where the whole family can playfully enjoy the most beautiful sounds of Tchaikovsky, Bach, Bartók, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, Rossini, Mendelssohn and Telemann, among others.

The Oorkaan Hearing Play Romeo and Juliet is now available via Storytel, Kobo Plus, Listening, Libris and De Slegte.
