The Square of Mr. Sax

The Square of Mr. Sax

Today we are going to march like a real marching band! Sounds like great fun, but what will it sound like when the band grows tired and no longer feels like marching the street? Or what if someone in the band receives a love letter, making the others jealous? In The Square of Mr. Sax, the marching band is performing in the little square where Mr. Sax lives. The quartet doesn’t know who he is until the door to his mysterious little house finally opens.

The Square of Mr. Sax, featuring the players of the brilliant Ebonit Quartet, is a compelling musical parade with lots of humour, directed by Jochem Stavenuiter.

“The great strength of this performance is not just in the musical dialogue conducted among the musicians on stage, but especially in the intricate levels of communication with the children in the audience. With the cheerful parade of richly imagined and musical scenes in The String Quartet of Mr Sax, Oorkaan presents an accessible introduction to classical music.”
