Boss
How does it sound?
Three musicians.
Ready for adventure.
But ... who will take the lead?
If nobody starts, nothing happens. So someone has to make the first move. But what does that really mean: to be in charge? Do you always lead the way? Do you talk loudly? Or do you listen well? And what if no one wants to be the boss, but the world (or beyond) beckons anyway?
Drummer Guy and his musical friends Ton and Alistair go on a journey. They hesitate, looking at each other ... who dares? Then someone does take that first step. And that changes everything. Their black suits burst open in color. A special journey in which music shows the way.
In this energetic and imaginative performance, you will hear exciting rhythms, funny sounds, popping jazz and quiet moments where you almost hold your breath.
Do you dare to take the first step?

Oorkaan invites drummer, composer and bandleader Guy Salamon for a production with three musicians. He has won several awards and can be heard internationally at jazz venues such as the Bimhuis, Europe Jazz Network and JazzAhead Bremen. Guy mixes musical genres virtuosically; his work is visual, theatrical and anecdotal. It is directed by Jochem Stavenuiter, co-founder of the Oorkaan Method. With Oorkaan he previously made ‘Sticks’ with Percossa, ‘Cello Warriors’ with the Cello Octet, ‘The square of Mr. Sax’ with the Ebonit Saxophone Quartet and ‘The Suleikas and the Mystery of the Sensitive String’ with Trio Suleika.

Guy Salamon on the collaboration: “For me, as a composer and live performer, this new concert is really one of the most fun and exciting projects I've had the pleasure of working on so far. I love the beautiful worlds and magical stories that Oorkaan creates on stage, and I feel right at home here. For this new project, it is an honor to work for the first time with the fantastic theater producer and director Jochem Stavenuiter, and of course to play together again with the wonderful musicians Alistair Payne and Ton Felices.”
