How does it sound?
ARE YOU ALSO EXCITED ABOUT HAVING A BIRTHDAY? Today is the party! Or is it? Did they forget viola player Richard's birthday? Will Melissa as "Princess of the Fiddle" get the most presents again? What is Sietse-Jan doing sneaking through the garden with all those garlands and his cello? Will violinist Maaike find her friends again? And is Annette dancing the birthday waltz with her? Or does she really want to be left alone with her double bass?
Laat me met rust! is a theatrical concert by Oorkaan and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra for everyone ages 5 and up. In this performance we follow five musicians and their birthday story. All the accompanying emotions can be heard in the beautiful music: the famous Serenade for Strings by Dvořák, played by the 24 strings of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.

ON THE PODIUM
The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1955, is the regular orchestral partner of The National Opera and also plays a versatile program at the Concertgebouw. The orchestra has been under the artistic direction of master violinist Gordan Nikolić since 2004. Because the orchestra usually plays without a conductor, the dynamic between orchestra members is very special; musicians trust each other blindly.
