Elektrische Fische
How does it sound?
Electric Fish tells the story of 13-year-old Emma, who has to move from Dublin to a small town in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with her mother and her two siblings. The abrupt change of location causes her great grief, she misses her grandparents, the English language, even the tea bags, which look very different in Germany. Together with her new school friend Levin, she devises a plan on how best to get back to her homeland. The sea as a connection and separation of the two places takes on a completely different meaning when Levin's mother suddenly needs help and Emma reacts at the right moment. Electric Fish tells of upheavals, homesickness, family and friendship and seeks answers to the question "What does home mean to me?".
