General board member external relations vacancy

Oorkaan produces theatrical concerts for young audiences. Our mission is to introduce as many small and large ears as possible to classical music from around the world, past and present. With some 200 performances, Oorkaan reaches around 40,000 visitors annually.

Oorkaan collaborates with top institutions from home and abroad: Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, National Opera & Ballet, Salzburg Festival and Brooklyn Academy of Music New York. Several Oorkaan productions have been awarded the international Young Music Audiences Award, including this season's performance Kriebel (2+).

For its work, the Oorkaan Foundation is structurally subsidized by the Performing Arts Fund and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. The foundation works according to the board-director model, laid down in board and management regulations. The daily management is in the hands of artistic director Caecilia Thunnissen and business manager Jennifer
Thompson. The board consists of five members and works unpaid.

Due to the periodic resignation of one of the board members, the board is seeking a:

General board member external relations
who would like to commit to youth music from her or his expertise.

We are looking for someone who:
- has a great love for youth performing arts and/or global classical music;
- has extensive experience in public relations and advocacy;
- has a diverse network in Amsterdam and national politics;
- can contribute to the positioning and awareness of Oorkaan;
- can support the board in its dealings with grantmakers, policymakers and politicians.

Oorkaan endorses the Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Code and has set itself the goal of being a reflection of society as an organization. In case of equal suitability, preference will be given to the candidate who strengthens the diversity within our team.
