Tarantula and the Dance of the Beasts
How does it sound?
Huu! A spider! But wait - this is not a scary spider at all. It is the lonely spider Tarantula. After all, she can't spin a web even though she dreams of a cobwebbed palace full of friends. She sees all the animals passing by, from the proud lion to the cozy chickens. But no one pays any attention to her! Until it turns out that she possesses a magic power with which she can make the other animals dance. Will her dream come true after all?
Want to know what this sounds like? Then come to the Family Concert Tarantula and the Dance of the Beasts. Using three pieces by the French composer Saint-Saëns, the musicians of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and an actress will take you into the world of Tarantula. In Saint-Saëns' Carnival of Animals they pass by the most wonderful animals dancing to the Tarantelle. Of course, the famous Danse macabre beyond.
This concert in collaboration with Oorkaan is directed by Caecilia Thunnissen. The musicians of the Concertgebouw Orchestra share the stage with actress Charlene Sancho. The dramaturgy is by Erin Coppens, the text was written by Lisanne van Aert, Tessa Verbei is responsible for the scenography and Desiree van Gelderen for the lighting design. Lionel Ziblat arranged the music.
