Buzzmm
How does it sound?
What do you hear outside in nature, in the trees, the shells, under the ground? And where is it quiet?
At Buzzmm discover the world of insects with tropical music. The Cuban wind quintet Aires Tropicales brings the flying and crawling world to life, but also notices how quiet it has become.
Beneath your feet it is swarming with bacteria, fungi, beetles, springtails and worms. Above your head, butterflies dance with the tiniest of creatures.
But what happens when the music stops? What if the dance of the insects disappears forever? What does a world without buzzing, tickling and chirping sound like? Using their instruments as wings, the musicians flutter through the peculiar world of our planet's smallest giants.
Buzzmm is an upbeat and colorful theatrical concert for everyone ages 4 and up. With a mix of tropical sounds, groovy rhythms and modern hits, such as Bad Guy by Billie Eilish, they breathe new life into the insect orchestra. An invitation to listen along, move along and dwell on the magic of nature.
Zoemmm is a co-production of Oorkaan with Orpheus'Children's caravan and Elbphilharmonie Hamburg

The Aires Tropicales Quintet

The Aires Tropicales Quintet embodies a fusion of cultures and musical traditions within the framework of a traditional woodwind quintet. Hailing from Cuba, they bring a vibrant mix of influences to their performances. Diverging from the typical repertoire of Western European wind quintets, they embrace works by classical masters alongside Latin American composers, including flamenco music and Afro-Cuban polyphonic singing.
This young quintet, founded in 2021 at the Fontys Academy in Tilburg, always plays by heart and fits perfectly with Oorkaan's artistic profile. In 2024 they participated in the Jeunesse Hurricane Academy.
