The day dad fell

Everyone stumbles sometimes

A theatrical concert about being yourself, falling, and staying comfortable.
When Daddy falls it can be funny, sad or scary.
It just depends on how he comes down.
Does he fall on his butt or on his head? Does he fall from high or slip on a banana peel? Is he crying or laughing? Do you help Daddy up or does he save himself?

Two ironclad jazz musicians explore their soft side, and share it with young eyes.

In the neighborhood
The day dad fell is the first production of a new concert series by Oorkaan: In the neighborhood. From 2024, every year Oorkaan invites a new creator to make a mini theatrical concert with two musicians. A theatrical concert with top musicians like you are used to from Oorkaan, but in a community center, library or church in your neighborhood.

Marieke Horst

Marieke Horst

Marieke Horst graduated last year as a costume and set designer from the Toneelacademie in Maastricht. For the designs of "The Day Dad Fell," she drew inspiration from Paul Klee. He made hand puppets for his son's birthdays. The impulsive forms of the dolls appeal to her. They have something ferocious she says, like a child's drawing that has come to life.
