The hour is blue.
The time between day and night when everyone is still sleeping but is almost awake.
The moon has just left, the sun has not yet risen.
What happens in the blue hour?
Who is secretly awake already?
Who waits for the sun to come?
Who would rather hide in the darkness?
Dew is a cozy family concert where the magic of the hour blue and Andalusian and Arabic music take you into a dream world. The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra tells the story you can hear from the music. The ancient instruments, the ud, the ney, the rabab show a rich repertoire from Granada to Baghdad. Theatrical elements, humor & playfulness make this visual listening experience accessible to everyone from 5 to 105 years old. In Oorkaan's theatrical concerts, musicians play the music from the head and from the heart. Their playing style is physical, a language any child can identify with. And "Language no Problem," because the only language there is the music.

For the set we use wood from an old set and for the costumes many garments are reused.
THE MUSIC
Music
For the performance Dew, a musical repertoire was chosen from the various musical traditions that the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra holds. The compositions refer to "dew" in the sense of early morning, sunrise and also in the meaning of the Moroccan word "daw," which means light.

THE AMSTERDAM ANDALUSIAN ORCHESTRA
Let yourself be carried away by the tarab, the classic repertoire from Al Andalus, the chaabi andalusi, classical repertoire with musical crossovers from folk music and the sufi andalusi, with its mystical atmosphere. In addition to these three classical Andalusian main genres, the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra (AAO) also focuses on other Eastern music such as sharqi, and other styles such as flamenco, mahoun and a more contemporary style. The AAO was founded in 2011 with the aim of connecting Andalusian heritage in the field of art and culture with the present. The AAO not only brings music back to Europe, but combines this with theater to tell the story of Al-Andalus and its significance for our society.
