Summer Job Opening: Workshop Organizers/Workshop Facilitators

For the Orpheus Theater Apeldoorn’s 2026 summer festival, Kinderkaravaan, Oorkaan is collaborating with a trio from the Oorkaan Ensemble and director Wieger Meulenbroek to create the family show *De Laatste Kroon*. The performance will take place outdoors in city parks in and around Apeldoorn and coincides with Oorkaan’s anniversary year, during which Oorkaan is celebrating its 25th anniversary and the Oorkaan Ensemble is celebrating its 5th anniversary.

*The Last Crown* centers on three characters and one crown. The crown serves as a symbol of power, desire, status, and group dynamics. Director Wieger Meulenbroek uses the concept of high and low status and, in a humorous way, introduces young audiences to a social and societal theme.

The Oorkaan Foundation and Theater Orpheus are looking for two workshop designers/facilitators this summer

Period: preparation in consultation, attendance at one rehearsal/preparation day in August, and performance during the run
Performance Period: August 17–28, 2026, on weekdays, in and around Apeldoorn

We are looking for two creative and theatrical talents to develop and lead a workshop that prepares children for their visit and engages them in a playful way with the themes of power, status, collaboration, and imagination.

The workshop should align with the world and atmosphere of the performance in both content and playfulness, with room for acting, movement, music, and participatory activities. The exact details will be worked out in consultation with Oorkaan and, where necessary, with the director, to ensure that the workshop aligns well with the artistic principles of the production.

The workshop leaders are from Gelderland and have strong ties to the province.

You are responsible for:
• designing a creative, feasible, and safe workshop lasting approximately 30 minutes that aligns with the theme, atmosphere, and design of *De Laatste Kroon*;
• coordinating the content with Oorkaan and, where necessary, with the director;
• attending one relevant rehearsal/preparation day in August to gather material, find inspiration, and get up to speed;
• developing a clear workshop description and practical guide;
• testing and, where necessary, adjusting the design;
• conducting the workshop related to the performances during the run.

When developing the workshop, please take the following into account: Basic principles:
• The workshop is tailored to the children in the show’s target audience;
• The teaching methods are active, accessible, and inviting, with a focus on both independent participation and group dynamics;
• The workshop can be held in the parks where the outdoor performance takes place;
• The content supports the artistic experience of the performance, without fully explaining or dictating its meaning

Stake:
We assume that:
• 10 performance dates;
• 1 rehearsal/preparation day;
• 4 hours a day.
The financial compensation will be determined through mutual agreement.
