Oorkaan & Concertgebouw Orchestra seek: multidisciplinary performer

The Concertgebouw Orchestra (since 1888) strives to surprise audiences and touch listeners with the beauty of symphonic music. For 135 years, the Concertgebouw Orchestra with its famous sound has been among the absolute world's best. An ensemble of 7 musicians will be assembled for this production.
Music company Oorkaan (since 2001) is a leading international national institution and collaborates with guest ensembles and orchestras. Oorkaan enriches as many small and large ears as possible with the infinite world of music.
Oorkaan and the Concertgebouw Orchestra are jointly developing the new youth production in 2024 The Nose for the small auditorium (family/6+) with 7 musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra. The text is written by Sanne Schumacher. Music is composed especially for this performance by Renske Vrolijk. It is directed by Caecilia Thunnissen, artistic director at Oorkaan. For this new youth production we are looking for a:
Multidisciplinary Performer
with a sense of spoken word and strong physical acting skills
The Nose will play twice in the Small Hall of the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam on Nov. 3, 2024.
Who are we looking for?
A performer:
- with a powerful voice;
- with a sense of spoken word;
- with a sense of musicality and rhythm;
- with strong physical game skills;
- who can interpret a poetic Dutch text crisply and time it to music;
- Being able to read notes/reading along with a score is a plus, good hearing a must;
- Has an affinity for the target audience (family performance/young audience ages 6 and up);
- who is available on the performance and rehearsal days listed below.
Oorkaan and the Concertgebouw Orchestra are also committed to reflecting society in their programming. In case of equal suitability, preference is given to the candidate who enhances diversity on stage.
REPETITIONS
The rehearsals with the musicians are fixed and they cannot be changed. The direction rehearsals without the musicians are now scheduled on the days listed below, and there is still limited flexibility to find other rehearsal days in consultation with the director:

WE OFFER
A CAO TD fee for rehearsals and performance day.
PROCEDURE AUDITIONS
Auditions will take place at:
1e round: Tuesday, Feb. 6 and Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024
2e round: Friday, February 9, 2024
During the week of January 29, 2024, we will let you know by email whether you have been invited to audition or not. With the invitation we will send along the assignment for the auditors to prepare. The auditions will take place in Amsterdam and will last approximately half an hour.
